We are a group of volunteers which was set up in 2011 to look after the countryside park. Although the land the park is situated in is owned by the Rhondda Cynon Taff Council, they maintain it within their limited resources. Our volunteers maintain the park assisted by various groups. Keep Wales Tidy: Their representative, Mr Richard Barrett is a valuable friend of our group. He attends all our meetings, and his knowledge and assistance helps us when trying to get grants etc., to carry out work in the park.
Friends of Cwmclydach Countryside Park
Rhondda Cynon Taff Council: While not directly involved in the day to day running of the park, we have regular contact with them, and wherever possible they provide assistance to us, either in the form of labour or finance for example when clearing the weeds from both lakes. Cwmclydach Primary School and Rhondda College: Both groups have assisted us in litter picking around the park in the past, and we try and use these days to educate the pupils about the park.
The friends meet as a group on a monthly basis to review what has been carried out, and to plan for the future. Keep Wales Tidy Green Flag Award. Our Countryside park has been awarded a Green Flag for the last 2 years. We have been audited again this year, and the results will be announced on July 23rd. Initial feedback was excellent.
